Course Description :
The record of doctoral research in the Faculty of Management Studies has been rich. A large number of students have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree by the University of Delhi in different areas of management. In addition several doctoral students of other Universities in India and abroad visit FMS to seek guidance. The main objectives of the programme are to encourage original work in different areas and aspects of management and to develop scholars who may contribute towards its growth through teaching and research. From time to time, the industries as well as various government agencies have approached the faculty for carrying out research in specific problem areas. These research projects have provided inputs for various teaching and training programmes organized at FMS. The overview of the research work done at FMS speaks of the wide coverage of the dominant areas in the context of the Indian business. The subjects covered include a wide variety of areas such as growth and behavior patterns of companies in India, marketing, financial, human resource and organisational dimensions of modern industry and business. Researchers have also been working on various problems in the areas of Information Technology, Operations Management and various aspects of globalisation on a comparative basis. Inter-disciplinary research activities are encouraged at FMS. The University of Delhi has the advantage of inter-disciplinary support and therefore it seeks to make the best use of the benefit of inter departmental perspective on a wider scale.
